Electoral Roll
Every Parish Church (CofE) has an Electoral Roll which must be completely revised every six years. New names can be added at any time and are removed on request or at the time of death. It is open to anyone who is 16 or over, is a member of the Church of England (or of a Church in communion with the Church of England), is a resident in the parish or regularly worships here. A member of the Electoral Roll is entitled to take part and vote at the annual meeting, to come onto the Parochial Church Council or its committees and to become a Church Warden. You do not have to be a member of the Electoral Roll to take part in one of the Giving schemes.

Planned Giving Scheme
People
who are a part of the Planned Giving Scheme are given a year's supply of white
envelopes. It is hoped that those in the scheme will use the envelopes even
on Sundays when they are not at church and will bring them on a later Sunday.
Cash or cheques can be put inside the envelope.
This form can of giving can, but doesn’t have to be, Gift Aided. To take
advantage of Gift Aid with this scheme, all you have to do is complete the Gift
Aid Declaration and for each £1 you give, the Government will give us
a further 28p at no cost to you.

Gift Aid
Gift
Aid is a scheme to enable tax-effective giving by individuals to charities in
the UK. The Gift Aid scheme was originally introduced in the Finance Act 1990
and was substantially revised from 2000.
Gift Aid allows individuals who are subject to UK income tax, to complete a
simple, short declaration that they are a UK taxpayer. Any cash donations that
the taxpayer makes to the charity after making a declaration are treated as
being made after deduction of income tax at the basic rate and the charity can
reclaim the basic rate income tax paid on the gift from HMRC. For a basic-rate
taxpayer, this adds 28% to the value of any gift made under Gift Aid.
| Brown Envelopes These are available at the back of church and are mainly for one-off gifts which are Gift Aided. All you have to do is put your gift in the envelope and complete the details. Green and Yellow? Sometimes there will be Gift Aid Envelopes available in other colours. This has nothing to do with our desire to be artistic and bright - they will be out on occasions when we have collections for specific collections or other charities. On these occasions there will be a notice in the Weekly Notes to explain both the collection - and the colour of the envelope! |
Friends of St Faith's
The Friends of St Faith’s is a group of people (currently just over a hundred) who agree to give at least £1 a month to help keep the church and grounds in good condition. We set up the Friends mainly for people who value what the church does but are not normally able to attend. Having said that, the majority of Friends are in church a great deal! We arrange outings, a strawberry tea and have a speaker at our annual meeting.
Standing Orders
A standing order is an arrangement that you establish with you bank which, with your consent, will automatically make a transfer from you account to the church’s bank account. Please take the appropriate form from the table at the back of Church and return it to us or download the form here and send it to the Parish Office. This form of giving can, but doesn’t have to be, Gift Aided. Who said giving can’t be fun! This is a bit of a flutter set up a long time ago by the Parish Magazine Committee and by which for £12 a year you have a share in a fund from which twelve times a year a draw is made. A modest prize is given in ten months of the year. In June and December there are bigger prizes. The total amount of prize money for the year is half of what is received, the rest going direct to St Faith's.
Is the Church rich?
Yes and no! We have some fantastic assets but they are not ours to sell. We are stewards of something which is very special - our faith, our church, our resources. In comparison with many church communities we are wealthy but on a week-to-week basis we do not give enough to sustain that which we want to achieve. Stewardship is a great responsibility and a great challenge. So please give what you can.
Remembering St Faith's in your Will
| Live longer by leaving a gift to a Charity in your Will | It is true, those people who include their favourite charity in their Will live longer. The average age at death in England and Wales is 80 years for those people who had left a gift to Charity in their Will. This compares with 78 years for those people who had not included a Charity, and just 68 years for those who had died without even having written a Will!

| Bequests to St Faith’s | St Faith’s would be a very different Church had it not been for the bequests of many people over the years. Most years we are fortunate to receive a bequest of £1000 or £2000 and sometimes these gifts are received long after people had moved away from Lee. Major bequests have, for example, enabled us to build the Parish Centre. Other bequests have been designated for particular projects and sometimes they are added to Parish Centre reserves so ensure the gift is used here.

| Who Needs a Will? | The simple answer to that is “everyone”. Every adult who owns any goods, property or who has any savings should have a Will. Yet, surprisingly only one in three adults in Britain has made a Will. There are plenty of good reasons to make a Will:

| Making a Will is something it is so easy to put off until another day and yet there are so many good reasons to get round to it. Making a gift to St Faith’s can be done by either adding a codicil to your Will or by writing a new Will.
