Introduction
Every
year we conduct 15 - 20 weddings and we do our best to make the occasion not
only a celebration of love but also to share as much as we can in the planning
so that the Church of England Marriage Service is tailored to your hopes.
If you live in the Parish of Lee-on-the-Solent, or if you have a connection with St Faith’s you are normally entitled to be married in St Faith’s.
Being married in church is to be married in a holy place and it is an opportunity to seek God’s blessing. Every wedding is a unique occasion and we feel a great sense of privilege in sharing this day with you.
Weddings are arranged at Vestry Hour on Thursday evenings between 6 and 7pm in church. The first things to be done are to make sure you are entitled to be married here, and then to fix the date and time of the wedding. Then, over the following months we build up a picture of the kind of wedding you would like to have. We shall need to know your choice of hymns, music and readings and who is going to take part in the service. Come along to Vestry Hour on any Thursday to discuss you plans, or telephone or email the vicar if you prefer.
We work together to arrange the service that is right for you. Often, we produce an order of service for couples which has all the information that is needed on the day so that by the time of the wedding rehearsal (in the week before the wedding) everyone knows what is going to happen.
In January of each year we invite all couples to our marriage evening when we
walk through a wedding service and answer questions etc. This is also an opportunity
to meet the organist and flower team.
Banns
If you both live in Lee-on-the-Solent your banns will be called here automatically. If one of you lives in another parish you must arrange for banns to be called in that parish church within the three months before your wedding. Banns are called at St Faith’s on the three Sundays of the month preceding the month of your wedding at the 10am Parish Eucharist.
Fees
Please see the list of fees below. Statutory fees are those which must be paid. The ‘extras’ will vary according to the decisions which you make about your wedding.
Deposit
There is no deposit required but we would ask you to become a Friend of St Faith’s for at least one year. The minimum payment for this is £12 and we would hope that you will choose to renew your membership as a consequence of a happy wedding and as a means of keeping in touch with this special place.
Readings
Please ask for our leaflet with suggested wedding readings. There must be at least one reading from the Bible but couples often include poetry and secular readings as well.
Music and Hymns
Please ask for our leaflet with suggested music and most popular hymns. Our organist, John Witham, will be pleased to hear from you and to arrange to meet you after a Sunday morning service to play through music for you.
Flowers
We have a team of volunteers who will arrange flowers in church for the wedding. Margaret Hunt will be happy to hear from you if you have particular requests. The fee will provide for one pedestal and two high altar vases.
Reception

If
you would like to consider booking the Parish
Centre for your wedding reception please contact
Andrew Munro in the Parish Office. More

Photography
Discreet photography is permitted during the service and you are very welcome to use the church grounds before and after the service for photographs.
Video
Video is permitted and there is no additional charge. We ask that the camera operator be as discreet as possible in recording the service.
Parking
There is ample parking at and around the church. For weddings the area close to the church west door is coned off for wedding cars.
And finally...
It is never too late to change your mind! Please contact the Vicar if you have any questions and do remember to let us know of any changes in you plans.
